FTMO vs Funding Pips: the short answer
FTMO is the safer all-round choice: a longer track record, a refundable fee, EA support and a higher WizardTrader score of 91/100 (rank 1 in our editorial ranking). Funding Pips suits traders who want the lowest entry price ($66 for a 10k 2-Step), an 8% phase 1 target and the freedom to choose their payout cycle, from weekly at a 60% split to monthly at 100%. Funding Pips scores 79/100 (rank 4) and carries a caution note about its review history. All figures were verified November 2026.
Quick verdict
Both firms use a 5% daily loss limit and a 10% static maximum drawdown on their 2-Step challenges, so the core risk rules match. Funding Pips is cheaper up front and asks for less in phase 1, but its fee is not refundable, its funded accounts are closed before weekends, and profits made within 5 minutes of high-impact news on funded accounts are deducted. FTMO costs more to start but refunds the fee with your first reward. If you plan to pass and get paid, that refund can make FTMO cheaper in the end. If you value payout flexibility above all, Funding Pips is the only one of the two that offers it.

Costs and profit split
For a 10k account, Funding Pips costs $66 and FTMO costs €89 or $99, so Funding Pips is $33 cheaper in dollars. The difference is the refund. FTMO returns its fee with your first reward. Funding Pips does not refund its fee. We do not hold verified prices for larger accounts at either firm, so check the checkout for the size you want.
The split structures work differently. FTMO pays 80% by default, rising to 90%, every 14 days. Funding Pips ties the split to how often you are paid: 60% if you take weekly payouts, up to 100% if you wait for monthly ones, with bi-weekly and on-demand options too. FTMO lists funding up to $2M through scaling. Our data does not verify a maximum funding figure for Funding Pips. On cost we score Funding Pips 14/15 and FTMO 12/15.
Worked example: what you keep from $5,000 of profit
- FTMO at 80%: $5,000 × 0.80 = $4,000. At the 90% maximum, $4,500.
- Funding Pips weekly at 60%: $5,000 × 0.60 = $3,000.
- Funding Pips monthly at 100%: $5,000.
Weekly payouts at Funding Pips cost you $1,000 against FTMO's default split on the same profit. Monthly payouts pay $1,000 more. The intermediate cycles sit between those points; our data does not list their exact splits.
Rules and drawdown
Both firms use a 5% daily loss limit and a 10% static maximum drawdown. A static drawdown does not move up as your balance grows; see trailing vs static drawdown. FTMO measures the daily limit from initial balance. Our data does not state Funding Pips' reference balance, so check its rules.
FTMO asks for 10% then 5%, with at least 4 trading days per phase. Funding Pips asks for 8% then 5%, with 3 trading days per phase.
Conduct rules differ more. FTMO allows news trading with a 2-minute restriction on Standard accounts, allows EAs, and allows weekend holding only on Swing accounts. Funding Pips deducts profits made within 5 minutes of high-impact news on funded accounts and closes funded accounts before weekends. Our data does not record its EA policy.
Worked example: loss limits on a $100k account
The percentages in dollars on a $100,000 account. This is an illustration, not a price quote.
- Daily loss, both firms: 5% of $100,000 is $5,000. At FTMO this stays $5,000 throughout because it is based on initial balance.
- Max drawdown, both firms: 10% static is $10,000, so equity must stay above $90,000.
- FTMO targets: $10,000 then $5,000.
- Funding Pips targets: $8,000 then $5,000.
With the same $10,000 of room, Funding Pips asks for $2,000 less in phase 1. Size positions with our position size calculator and test a losing streak in the drawdown calculator before you start.

Concerns to weigh
Funding Pips carries a caution note in our data. Its Trustpilot profile was suspended in June 2024 after a review surge. Recent reviews mention device-ID terminations and rule changes after passing. Its fee is also not refundable, so a failed or terminated account costs you the full fee.
FTMO has no caution note, but it introduced a new consistency rule on orders from 12 October 2026, and some reviews cite account locks after technical errors. Read the rule before you buy.
