How to choose a trading strategy
Pick a strategy that fits the time you have, not just the one with the best headline results. Scalping and day trading need hours of screen time during active sessions. Swing and position trading need less screen time but mean holding trades overnight and through news. Each guide lists the market, style and difficulty so you can filter to what suits you.
Test before you trade it live
No strategy wins every trade. Backtest the rules on historical charts, then forward-test on a demo account until you have at least 50 to 100 trades. Track your win rate and average risk/reward, then size every live trade with the position size calculator.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best trading strategy for beginners?
Trend following and breakout strategies are usually easiest to learn because the rules are simple and visual. Whatever you choose, start on a demo account and risk a small, fixed percentage per trade.
Do trading strategies work in every market?
Many work across forex, futures, stocks and crypto, but volatility, trading hours and costs differ. Each guide notes which markets it suits best.
How many trades do I need to test a strategy?
At least 50 to 100 trades gives a rough picture of win rate and risk/reward. Fewer trades than that can make a strategy look much better or worse than it really is.
Can I combine strategies?
Yes, but keep each set of rules separate and track results for each one. Mixing rules mid-trade makes it impossible to know what is working.
