FTMO vs FundedNext: which prop firm is better in 2026?

FTMO and FundedNext share the same 5% daily and 10% static loss limits. They differ on targets, platforms, price and rule stability. Data verified November 2026.

FTMO vs FundedNext: the short answer

Choose FTMO if you want the longest track record, the most stable published rules and a stronger review score. Choose FundedNext if you want a lower phase 1 target (8% against 10%), a wider choice of platforms including TradingView, NinjaTrader and Tradovate, or a slightly higher maximum profit split. FTMO is ranked first in our editorial ranking with a WizardTrader score of 91/100. FundedNext is ranked third with 85/100. All figures were verified November 2026.

Quick verdict

On the core risk rules, these two firms are almost identical: a 5% daily loss limit, a 10% static maximum drawdown on the 2-Step, a refundable fee and payouts every 14 days once you are running. FundedNext's easier 8% phase 1 target and broader platform list are real advantages. FTMO's edge is predictability. FundedNext's own drawbacks in our data are that its rules change often and that some pricing differs between its help center and checkout. Sources also conflict on its minimum trading days. FTMO's main recent change is a new consistency rule on orders from 12 October 2026.

Costs and profit split

FTMO's cheapest challenge in our data is the 10k 2-Step at €89 or $99. FundedNext's cheapest is the 6k Stellar 2-Step at $59.99. The account sizes differ, so these are entry prices rather than a like-for-like comparison. We do not hold verified prices for larger accounts at either firm, and FundedNext's pricing has differed between its help center and checkout, so check the checkout page for the size you want.

Both refund the challenge fee with your first reward; for FundedNext this applies to the 2-Step. On profit split, FTMO starts at 80% and can reach 90%. FundedNext starts at 80% and can reach 95% if you buy an add-on. FTMO lists funding up to $2M through scaling. FundedNext advertises up to $4M, which our data records as a marketing claim. We score FundedNext slightly higher on cost (13/15 against 12/15).

Rules and drawdown

Both firms use a 5% daily loss limit and a 10% static maximum drawdown on the 2-Step. A static limit does not rise as your balance grows, which is easier to manage than a trailing one; see trailing vs static drawdown. FTMO measures its daily limit from initial balance. Our data does not state FundedNext's reference balance for the daily limit, so check its rules.

The targets differ. FTMO asks for 10% then 5%, with at least 4 trading days per phase. FundedNext asks for 8% then 5%. Sources conflict on FundedNext's minimum trading days, with some saying 5 and others none.

On news, FTMO allows news trading with a 2-minute restriction on Standard accounts. FundedNext allows news trading but applies a 40% news-profit rule. On holding positions, FundedNext allows weekend holding, while FTMO allows it only on Swing accounts. FTMO allows EAs. Our data does not record FundedNext's EA policy, so confirm it before you automate.

Worked example: loss limits on a $100k account

Here is what the published percentages mean on a $100,000 account. This is an illustration, not a price quote.

  • Daily loss, both firms: 5% of $100,000 is $5,000. At FTMO this stays $5,000 for the whole challenge because it is based on initial balance.
  • Max drawdown, both firms: 10% static is $10,000, so equity must stay above $90,000.
  • FTMO targets: $10,000 in phase 1 and $5,000 in phase 2, $15,000 in total.
  • FundedNext targets: $8,000 in phase 1 and $5,000 in phase 2, $13,000 in total.

With the same $10,000 of maximum room, FTMO's phase 1 asks you to make as much as you are allowed to lose, while FundedNext asks for $2,000 less. That is the single biggest rule difference between the two. Our drawdown calculator and position size calculator help you size trades so that a losing streak stays well inside the $5,000 daily limit.

Platforms

FTMO supports MT4, MT5 and cTrader. FundedNext supports those three plus Match-Trader, Tradovate, NinjaTrader and TradingView, the widest platform choice in our ranking. FundedNext also offers futures accounts, and FTMO lists a futures challenge type too. Both firms score 10/10 on platforms. If you trade from TradingView or NinjaTrader, FundedNext is the practical choice. Our platform comparison covers the differences.

US traders

Both firms accept US traders in some form. FTMO does so through its FTMO-OANDA structure. FundedNext has accepted US traders on Match-Trader since November 2025, so US clients there are limited to that platform.

Track record and reviews

FTMO has operated since 2015 from Prague and acquired the broker OANDA in December 2025. Its Trustpilot rating is 4.8 from 55,571 reviews (November 2026). It scores 28/30 on track record and transparency and 22/25 on rule fairness.

FundedNext was founded in 2022 and is based in Ajman, UAE. Its Trustpilot rating is 4.5 from 81,087 reviews (November 2026), a larger review base than FTMO's. It scores 23/30 on track record and 21/25 on rules, with 18/20 on payouts and reviews against FTMO's 19/20.

Who should choose each

  • Choose FTMO if you value a long operating history, a rule set that changes less often, EA support you can confirm, or the higher review score.
  • Choose FundedNext if you want the lower 8% phase 1 target, trade on TradingView, NinjaTrader, Tradovate or Match-Trader, hold over weekends, or want the option of a 95% split.
  • Either suits a manual MT4, MT5 or cTrader trader who can work within a 5% daily and 10% static limit.

Concerns to weigh

Neither firm carries a caution note in our data. For FTMO, read the consistency rule on orders that applies from 12 October 2026, and note that some reviews cite account locks after technical errors. For FundedNext, rules change often and some prices differ between the help center and checkout, so re-read the current terms before each purchase. The minimum trading days figure is also disputed between sources.
