Forex Profit Calculator
Calculate the profit or loss of a forex trade in pips and US dollars from the direction, entry price, exit price and position size.
How to use the profit calculator
Pick long (buy) or short (sell), enter your entry and exit prices and the position size in lots, then choose how the pair is quoted. The calculator shows the move in pips and the result in US dollars. It does not include spread, commission or overnight swap, so subtract those for your net result.
How forex profit is calculated
Profit = price change × units × (quote currency to USD rate), with the sign flipped for short trades.
Example: buy 0.50 lots of EUR/USD at 1.0850 and sell at 1.0910. The move is 60 pips. Each pip on 0.50 lots is worth $5, so the profit is 60 × $5 = $300.
Short example: sell 1 lot of GBP/USD at 1.2700 and buy back at 1.2740. The price moved 40 pips against you, a loss of 40 × $10 = $400.
Plan profit before you trade
Use this calculator with the risk/reward calculator to compare what you stand to gain with what you could lose, and size the trade with the position size calculator. Read how to set stop-loss and take-profit levels.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate forex profit?
Multiply the price change by the number of units and convert to US dollars if the pair is not quoted in dollars. For EUR/USD, each pip on one standard lot is $10.
Does the calculator include spread and commission?
No. It shows the gross result. Subtract spread, commission and any swap to get your net profit.
How much is 100 pips worth?
On one standard lot of EUR/USD, 100 pips is $1,000. On a mini lot it is $100 and on a micro lot $10.
Can I use it for short trades?
Yes. Choose short and the calculator flips the sign, so a falling price shows a profit.
