How to use the Fibonacci calculator

Enter the swing high and swing low of the move you want to measure and choose whether the move was up or down. The calculator returns the 23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8% and 78.6% retracement levels and the 127.2% and 161.8% extensions.

How Fibonacci levels are calculated

In an uptrend, a retracement level is high − (high − low) × ratio. In a downtrend it is low + (high − low) × ratio.

Example: EUR/USD rallies from 1.0800 to 1.1000, a 200-pip range. The 38.2% retracement is 1.1000 − 0.0200 × 0.382 = 1.09236. The 61.8% retracement is 1.08764.

How traders use the levels

Fibonacci levels mark areas where a pullback may pause. They work best alongside other evidence, such as support and resistance, trend direction and candlestick signals. Read the full Fibonacci retracement guide.

Frequently asked questions

What are the main Fibonacci retracement levels?

23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8% and 78.6%. The 50% level is not a Fibonacci ratio but is widely watched.

Which Fibonacci level is most important?

Many traders watch 38.2%, 50% and 61.8% most closely, but no level works on its own.

How do I pick the swing high and low?

Use clear, recent turning points on the timeframe you trade. Different swings give different levels.

What are Fibonacci extensions?

Levels beyond 100% of the move, such as 127.2% and 161.8%, used to estimate targets once price breaks past the prior swing.
